We are looking for one or two volunteers to help with our East African Food Distribution on Thursdays from 9:00 am to noon. We need friendly volunteers to help our visitors pack their food and, when not busy, restock the food shelves. We have interpreters available for our visitors who are non-English speaking, but would love to bring in more volunteers who speak Somali or other East African languages. We highly encourage women to apply, as most of our visitors are women. It’s a great way to learn about other cultures and connect with our East African neighbors. You can try it once and see if it’s something you’d like to do once a month or week.

Mission Statement
Community Emergency Service transforms lives by serving neighbors, sharing resources and becoming community - a place where people come hungry and leave hopeful.
Description
Community Emergency Service is a multi-service non-profit organization that runs a number of food based assistance programs for Minneapolis residents. Our main programs include: Food Shelf, Meals on Wheels, Home Delivery, Bonus Friday Distribution, and East African Food Distribution.
CES is located within one of the most diverse, densely populated neighborhoods in Minneapolis; over 20,000 people live within its boundaries. 46% of families living in the Phillips neighborhood are below the federal poverty level.
At CES, we strive to serve all our neighbors in need without distinction or test. We invite support from volunteers and donors and are open to collaboration with other agencies, regardless of religious affiliation.
Will you help us move people from hunger to hope?
