Mission Statement
The purpose of ReStore Chicago is to contribute to the work of Habitat for Humanity by building strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter. We raise funds by selling donated home goods to the public at largely reduced rates, funneling 100% of the proceeds into Habitat for Humanity Chicago's efforts to support our city. When you support your local ReStore by shopping, donating or volunteering, you're not just supporting your local community, you’re helping to provide assistance to the 259,000 people facing critical housing needs in Chicago.
Description
The ReStore is Habitat for Humanity's ecosystem in action - every purchase, donation and volunteer hour breathes life into our mission. Each simple yet significant act contributes to bringing safe, affordable housing to the 1 in 10 Chicagoans who need assistance.
Every year, ReStore Chicago diverts over 800 tons of goods from the landfill and reinvests half a million dollars directly into the communities that need it most.
We invite people of all backgrounds, races, and religions to volunteer at our location at 6040 N Pulaski. From customer service to merchandising to event planning, ReStore Chicago offers a variety of volunteer opportunities geared toward individual interests and skills.
In addition to helping families create safe, decent, and affordable housing, you can expect a fun and rewarding time while volunteering. It’s a great place to interact with staff and volunteers while engaging with your community. Opportunities are available Tuesday through Sunday all year round, as well as during special events at trade shows and exhibitions.
