Community Impact Team

Renovate I.E. is a quarterly event that revitalizes neighborhoods and local communities throughout the Inland Empire with the help of community volunteers, neighborhood associations, and local business leaders. Each quarter, NHSIE selects a deserving homeowner or community project to receive a makeover during a one-day event, which includes minor home improvements such as exterior painting , landscaping, yard clearing, and planting of trees and flowers.

About Neighborhood Housing Services of the Inland Empire (NHSIE)

Location:

1390 N D ST, San Bernardino, CA 92405, US

Mission Statement

NHSIE is dedicated to creating homeownership opportunities, bridging the housing affordability gap, and building sustainable communities of choice one person, one home, and one neighborhood at a time.

Most importantly, NHSIE is dedicated to making the dream of homeownership a reality for residents and recognizes that homeownership promotes community stability, increases personal wealth, breaks the cycle of poverty within families, leads to enhanced civic involvement, and improves academic outcomes for children of homeowners - all of which contribute to our goal of supporting sustainable communities and improving resident quality of life.

NHSIE offers programs to existing homeowners which include beautification grants and loans. We also provide "hands-on" home maintenance workshops that enhance skills which help home owners keep their home maintenance costs down and their home values up.

Many current homeowners throughout the Inland Empire are struggling to keep their homes during these challenging economic times. NHSIE is here to help through one-on-one coaching, referrals to other useful resources, and by working on behalf of troubled homeowners to help them avoid foreclosure or reduce mortgage payments.

We think you will find our web site easy to navigate and full of the information and guidance you are seeking - including downloadable documents and links to additional resources.

Changing Lives, One Home and Family at a Time.

Description

NHSIE was founded in 1981 by Leonard Davenport, Luis Navarette, and Jack Hill, three World War II veterans who wanted to make homeownership available to underserved populations in San Bernardino. NHSIE has grown tremendously since its humble beginnings, yet its vision and passion for community development have remained true to its origins.

NHSIE is an affiliate of NeighborWorks America, established by Congress in 1978 to increase the capacity of local community-based housing organizations. In addition, NHSIE is an affiliate of the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), a national civil rights and advocacy organization that focuses on improving opportunities for Hispanics.

NHSIE is proud to have the support of community organizations and government entities on both local and national levels. After over 30 years of serving the Inland Empire, NHSIE has built strong community trust. Residents, local businesses, non-profit partners, and government agencies alike recognize that NHSIE is a reliable and effective source of support for sustainable housing.

For many first-time home buyers, taking that first step sometimes seems overwhelming. NHSIE makes the home buying process less daunting by helping prospective home buyers become knowledgeable about the buying process, providing confidential, one-on-one coaching, directing them to down payment assistance programs, and identifying their affordable housing options.
