When people in need of food assistance come to Skyline, they get checked in at a desk in the lobby. This is a chance to make everyone feel welcome as well as make sure that they are eligible to receive groceries. A volunteer in this position would be responsible for looking the patron up in the system, confirming the accuracy of the information, and signing them into the database.
The position requires discretion, critical thinking, and basic computer skills. It is also an opportunity to connect with people and help ensure their experience is one of dignity and encouragement.
Because it takes at least a week to get used to using the database and learning policy, this is considered a long-term position. Skyline staff can work with volunteers' availability!
Shifts can begin at 9 AM each morning and can last until the Food Resource Center closes. The hours of the FRC are as follows:
- Monday 1 PM - 6 PM
- Tuesday & Thursday 10:30 AM - 2 PM
- Wednesday 1 PM - 4 PM
- Friday 9 AM - 12 PM
- Saturday 9 AM - 11 AM

Mission Statement
Skyline’s mission is to impact lives, empower those in need and to address the roots of poverty in Oklahoma.
Description
Skyline has served the OKC community for over 40 years. Our agency is a mission of the United Methodist Church which offers different services for at-risk & under-served adults, youth and children. In addition to the Food Resource Center, Skyline is home to several other programs meant to assist those struggling with poverty. The ultimate goal is to restore dignity to the lives of patrons, end stereotypes, and foster a new era of compassion and respect for those living on the margins.
