Use your creativity to contribute to self-determination and economic development by and for the African community! We're a perfect fit for painters, artists, visual art students, and interior designers looking to build their portfolio while supporting a great cause.

Volunteers will paint donated furniture, home decorations, and home goods to be a part of our new furniture and accessories line: NZO - African Styles at Home and Abroad! The art will range from African-inspired prints and designs, to color block effects, to use of stencil designs.

We will provide the eco-friendly paints (zero VOC), brushes, stencils, pieces to be painted, and all other materials you need. Workshops will be available to train volunteers on the skills required.

Fresh inventory arrives every few hours, so new pieces are always available! We are open to any new ideas volunteers may have that will enhance the projects. This is a great way to get community service hours while having some creative, artistic fun!

We prefer working with volunteers local to the greater Philadelphia area.

You can come into the store to sign up for the volunteer orientation, or you can call us at 215-546-9616 (x3). You can also check out our blog uhurufurniturephilly.blogspot.com for new items and volunteer projects. We're open 6 days a week from 11am-6pm, every day except Monday!
