Help mothers be able to work towards career advancement and not need to worry about finding childcare.

Our Women Achieiving New Directions Employment Program helps single low-income working moms with career advancement through individual career counseling, job search assistance, mentoring, and career advancement workshops. A major hurdle that these moms face is childcare - we strive to have childcare assistance at all our workshops. Volunteers supervise children while mothers attend workshops. Volunteers may also plan activities for children.

That is where you fit in and can make a difference!!!

Be that person that moms can depend on. Workshops are the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month (sometimes workshops are rescheduled but this tends to be the norm) in north Minneapolis.

Mission Statement

Avivo's mission is to increase well-being through recovery and career advancement while working to end homelessness. We envision communities free of health and economic disparities.

Description

Avivo serves nearly 15,000 Minnesotans each year, helping them achieve recovery, stable housing, employment and economic advancement. Founded in 1960, Avivo provides chemical and mental health services, housing support services, career education and employment services. We specialize in helping individuals and families who face personal or systemic barriers - poverty, homelessness, joblessness, chemical addiction or mental health concerns.

Avivo is unique because we pair our services to help individuals achieve lasting success. Our chemical and mental health services include chemical and mental health assessments, substance use disorder treatment (outpatient and residential) for individuals and families, mental health therapy, targeted case management and care coordination. Our ending homelessness services include street outreach for individuals living unsheltered, indoor tiny houses shelter (Avivo Village), hotel-to-home initiatives, transitional recovery housing and housing targeted case management. We operate Avivo Institute of Career & Technical Education which provides short-term training to earn industry credentials that launch individuals on career pathways and living wage jobs. Our full range of employment services customizes support for unemployed and under-employed individuals who are struggling to find work, transition or start their careers.
