The Plano Conservancy for Historic Preservation Inc., and the Interurban Railway Museum welcome passionate individuals interested in donating their time, skills, or knowledge. We are looking for upbeat and self-motivated volunteers to help us teach elementary school tours and be museum docents for our regular visitors. We are also interested in bringing in volunteers with wide ranges of skills, from clerical, academic, graphic design, research, museums, and especially Spanish language proficiency. The museum is open from 10am to 2pm, Mondays through Fridays, and our ideal volunteer will be available at least (2) 10am-2pm days out of the week.
If you're looking for that workplace famiily feel with the perks of volunteering on your own schedule, this is the place for you! Our volunteers have the opportunity to do many different types of tasks, from visitor interaction to exhibit installation. Similarly, if you're a student interested in entering the museum workforce, this is a great opportunity to get relevant experience!
All volunteers are vetted through the City of Plano Volunteers in Plano office, and must be able to pass a background test. Physical requirements include being comfortable standing for extended periods of time (as docents) and going up and down stairs.
