Champions Mentoring serves children & youth (ages 6-17) in the Greater Bridgeport area who are have been impacted by either an incarceration of a family member or by their involvement with the juvenile justice system. These children are often emotionally vulnerable and in need of additional support. Adult mentors meet with their mentee at the child’s school for an hour each week to play games, read, talk, go on outings or do other mutually satisfying projects.

The J-Connect Mentoing Program provides one-to-one mentor support to youth referred through the Bridgeport & Stamford Juvenile Probation Offices. These youth, ages 11-17, have low level offenses and are in need of a positive adult role model. This is a community based mentor model where mentors meet with a youth mentee afterschool or weekends to go on a local outing, share a meal, visit a park, gym or community center, etc. Mentors provide positive exposure and can help with increasing general life skills and goal setting. Time commitment is about 2 hours each week and youth reside throughout coastal Fairfield County- especially in the Bridgeport, Norwalk & Stamford areas.

MENTORING is a rewarding opportunity to enrich and inspire the life of a child or teen. Consistent mentor visits provide a positive adult-youth relationship which helps to foster resiliency in at-risk children and youth.
