The South-East Asia Center is looking for people to teach English to our adult learners. For more than 40 years, South-East Asia Center has been helping immigrants and refugees learn English. Their success is our success. We are committed to eliminating barriers to learning such as the lack of access to or capacity to use remote learning methods. We are looking for dedicated volunteers who are willing to work with us to create learning opportunities for the underserved immigrants and refugees in our community.
Teachers can volunteer one or more days per week to tutor one-on-one, in small groups, or classes. South-East Asia Center provides teaching materials and guidance on how to use the materials.
Training: Volunteers with or without experience are welcome to join our team. 15 hours or pre-service training is required. The training includes 12 hours of e-learning and 3 hours of onsite orientation and training.

Mission Statement
South-East Asia Center's mission is to build bridges of understanding and cooperation amongst all Southeast Asian peoples as well as between all peoples of Eastern and Western upbringing.
Description
A respected group of Southeast Asian elders concerned with the welfare of their refugee brethren founded a self-help service center in 1979. Since then South-East Asia Center has provided transition services for over 15,000 immigrants and limited- English speakers of numerous ethnicities in the Chicago area.
With a building donated by the volunteer executive director, refugees and neighbors joined to build a school and service center. By hand they dug a foundation, carried 15,000 used bricks purchased from a building torn down two blocks away, and used six tons of sand bags discarded from suburban floods as back fill. Today through the same community spirit and creativity SEAC runs 13 groundbreaking programs in 12 sites with a staff of over 40 and over 100 volunteers.
