The San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission’s provides homeless men, women, children and families an opportunity not only to obtain food, shelter and basic life necessities, but also a foundation for individual and family restoration by developing a personalized plan based on their needs for achieving personal growth, employment and housing.
The goal of Rescue S.O.S. (Survival Outreach Services) is to meet the basic, life-essential needs of homeless individuals and families and to serve as a link to social services in the community, including the organization’s own emergency shelter, residential substance abuse recovery, and transitional housing programs. The road to recovery for many of the men and women currently in the Mission’s programs began with hot meal, a safe night of shelter, or a shower and clean change of clothing.
Volunteer Project: SFVRM’s Shower Truck provides homeless individuals with hot meals and showers, and they need your help to run it. The RSVP volunteer team will greet clients, track participation and manage sign-ups and lines, as well as mopping out the showers between uses.
