The Homelessness Prevention Program (HPP), a program of Catholic Charities, provides homelessness prevention assistance to families and singles in San Francisco to help them maintain or obtain permanent housing. HPP assists families in permanent housing who are in danger of eviction or who need help to move to a more sustainable rental situation.
We are seeking a reliable volunteer who can support the HPP program as the Information and Referral Volunteer. Under supervision of the Homelessness Prevention Program manager, this role serves as the initial point of contact for individuals who call Catholic Charities seeking homelessness related resources. This person acts as a welcoming and knowledgable portal to accessing services within Catholic Charities and the wider community, using resource guides established by the Catholic Charities.
The HPP team will provide training about different agencies and programs available in San Francisco, Marin and San Mateo (related to housing, and other basic needs).
Qualifications:
* Willinness to learn about San Francisco, Marin and San Mateo County Service Providers (e.g. substance abuse, housing, financial assistance, government entitlement programs, and money management services).
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Computer ability to enter indormation in the Catholic Charities database.
Time Commitment: 5+ hours per week

Almost 5,000 refugee and immigrant consultations were provided and 2,332 seniors were served. In addition 25,459 youth were served in San Francisco, Marin and San Mateo.
