The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. Volunteers are needed to assist with classes as sidewalkers and horse leaders. No experience necessary, training will be onsite and ongoing. Sidewalkers are responsible for working with individuals directly during the class, by walking beside them while on horseback. Horse leaders are responsible for leading the horse during the classes. Volunteers must be 14 years and older. Background checks will be required for anyone 18 and over due to working with persons with disabilities. Volunteers needed Fridays 9 am to 3 pm and Saturdays 8:30 am to 2 pm.
