SPORTS TEAMS, YOUTH GROUPS, CLUBS, WE NEED YOU TO HELP AT OUR 10TH ANNUAL CRAB FEED SATURDAY, JANUARY 18TH 2020! THIS IS A SUPER FUN OPPORTUNITY FOR HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE AGE VOLUNTEERS, AND IS ESPECIALLY GOOD FOR GROUPS OF KIDS ON SPORTS TEAMS (I.E. SOCCER, FOOTBALL, ETC.) YOUTH GROUPS, AND EVEN FOR INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEERS LOOKING TO JOIN A GROUP FOR THIS SINGLE EVENT TO FULFILL YOUR VOLUNTEER CHARITY SERVICE HOURS FOR SCHOOL!! OUR STUDENT VOLUNTEERS ARRIVE EARLY ON THE DAY OF THE CRAB FEED TO HELP SET UP THE VENUE AND THEN AT 4 PM CHANGE INTO THEIR SERVING ATTIRE TO BE SERVERS FOR THE EVENING CRAB FEED. AFTER THE EVENT THEY PARTICIPATE IN LIGHT PACK UP/CLEAN UP ACTIVITIES, AND ARE EXCUSED BY 10. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUR TEAM AT SCHOOL, GROUP OF FRIENDS OR IF YOU NEED CHARITY SERVICE HOURS FOR SCHOOL. IF POSSIBLE, HELPFUL TO BE AVAILABLE FOR CRAB FEED TEAM TRAINING MEETING PRIOR TO THE EVENT. (TBA)

Mission Statement

Doctors Giving Back is a medical relief/humanitarian aid organization that provides medical care, medicines, medical supplies, vaccines, clothes, shoes, and clean water programs for destitute people living in the poorest parts of Africa. Heslthcare i s almost non-existent in these areas and people suffer and die from preventable and treatable diseases such as Malaria, Typhoid, Cholera, Tuberculosis, Intestinal Parasites and AIDS. 85% of these diseases are caused by the dirty water they drink...the only available water to drink.

Description

Projects and programs include:

Provide sustainable water filtration systems in remote villages

Take medical teams to remote villages twice a year to provide medical care, vaccines and medications to people who may have never seen a doctor in their entire life.

Children's Feeding Program: feed orphaned and homeless children with a meal a day feeding program. Send kids to school who would have never had a chance to go to school

DGB Constructi teams assist in projects to remodel a remote hospital that serves one million people with only 3 doctored and no supplies. Provide hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of medical supplies to hospital and medical clinic in need of supplies.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 15
  • 1 pre-event training meeting (if possible, even if just 1 or 2 people from your group so someone is trained) 1pm - 10pm January 18th 2020 for the event
  • If anyone in group has media skills like working with powerpoint, imovie etc and can help with sound and equipment that evening that would be fantastic !!
