ORGANIZATION: SA Youth

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

SA Youth needs volunteer support to assist with cleaning up our Fenfield out-of-school-time Site the weekend of October 15-16th.

This is a two day project. The project may be extended to the following weekend if work is not completed in these two days.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15: Volunteers will help with outdoor maintenance such as painting the trim on the outside of the building, Fence repairs, cleaning playground area, yardwork, and litter clean up.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 16: Volunteers are needed to help with indoor clean up, carpet removal, painting and sorting through resources for our rummage sale.

**We are limited in yardwork tools so we recommend that volunteers bring their own lawnmowers, weed cutters, sheers, and rakes for this project.

About SA Youth

Location:

PO Box 7844, San Antonio, TX 78207, US

Mission Statement

To develop the character, strengths, talents and skills of San Antonio's high-risk urban youth through fun, safe experiences, positive learning environments, and holistic programs that inspire each individual to fulfill their potential personally and in the community.

Description

SA Youth's prime focus is helping young people achieve academic success, develop their character, and promote healthy lifestyles. We operate several out-of-school sites for school-age youth and one alternate campus and training center for young adults ages 16-24 who have left the traditional school system. SA Youth's OST program takes place after school and during the summer for youth between the ages of 5 and 13. Our site locations operate four to five hours during the school year and up to ten hours over the summer and select school holidays. SA Youth provides a safe place, caring adults, and positive youth development programs during the out-of-school time hours when juvenile delinquency and other risky behaviors can occur. Our YouthBuild program provides unemployed high school dropouts, ages 16-24, a second chance to recover a high school diploma or GED while learning marketable skills at the same time. Members are directed through structured online and class-based curriculum. At SA Youth, we create a safe environment where young adults are free to learn; where everyone is valued, guided, and taught leadership qualities, which directly enhances their growth in self-confidence.
