Global Potential (GP) empowers youth and communities to energize each other through education, international service work and cultural exchange. GP is an 18-month transformative after-school + summer program that works with 500 youth a year. The GP program includes 16.5 months of workshops locally New York and 1.5 months of international cultural exchange in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Nicaragua.

The Youth Ambassador Program Intern is responsible for assisting the Program Coordinator with all YAP program related tasks that is logistics, coordination and operations of YAP.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all files and data are organized properly

  • Input information of YAP participants into the database (salesforce & Google Drive)

  • Manage the Youth Ambassador Program Facebook pages (Social Media) and Google Drive

  • Make phone calls when needed to YAP partners and participants

  • Support in the recruitment and selection of YAP Participants

  • Participate in the Monthly conference calls with the International Executive Councils

  • Translate Documents from English to Haitian Creole and vice versa.

  • Take notes during Conference calls, partner meetings, monthly workshop and Update YAP Timeline

  • Follow up with tasks assigned to the YAP Youth

  • Help identifying new partners and communities

  • Maintain support, confidentiality, and professionalism necessary to create a safe atmosphere of sharing, understanding, tolerance and mutual support.


Qualifications:

  • Currently in his/her Senior year in High School

  • Must be able to commit for a minimum of 6 to 9 months, 15 hours a week

  • Must be able to speak and write Haitian Creole or French and English;

  • Proficiency in using social media platforms such as Facebook, Google Hangout, Twitter and Instagram

  • Be familiar with Google Apps (Spreadsheets, Google Doc, Google Hangout, and Salesforce or be willing to receive basic training for use of these software applications)

  • Detailed oriented, responsible, organized, sociable with excellent communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and establish relationships with others openly

  • Culturally sensitive; practical and resourceful problem-solver
