The Alameda County Social Services Agency (SSA) needs volunteers to help provide no cost IRS certified tax preparation assistance to low- and moderate-income taxpayers. Since 2002, SSA Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) preparers have helped taxpayers to receive larger tax refunds by claiming the credits they have earned. Recruitment for Tax Preparers, Screeners and Greeters has begun. We can all make a difference in small measured ways. VITA is your opportunity.
We’re looking for volunteers who are customer-oriented and enjoy working with diverse populations. Bilingual skills are highly desirable. No prior tax preparation experience is needed - we will give you the training to become IRS-certified.
We need volunteers during tax season: January 18 through April 17, 2017, Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm and Saturdays, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.
Training for new volunteers will take place in December and early January. Register online: https://alamedasocialservices.org/public/services/community/eitc/volunteer_form/volunteer_form.cfm
