About Dare2B Dare2B serves as a charitable agent to make it easy for you to do good in your community. Efforts focus on providing unique experiences that make living in a shelter less traumatic for homeless children.

Currently, the Dare2B team is seeking a seasonal holiday Sous Chef for our annual Thanksgiving Event aimed at serving over 500 meals. This meal will be distributed to 5 shelters throughout New York City to shape children’s lives by providing positive memories to help them develop better identities and a strong sense of value.

Chef Classification Seasonal Holiday Volunter - 2 Days Required - Brooklyn, New York

Reports to Executive Chef

Day 1: Wednesday, November 23rd, 2016, from 3:00 pm-10:00pm for complete food preparation and cooking.

Day 2: Thursday, November 24th, 2016, from 7:00 am - 10:00 am to reheat and pack food for delivery to different shelter locations.

Job Description Day 1:

- Reports to Executive Chef and serve second-in-command as per his instructions.
- Ensure the kitchen operates in a timely manner.

- Assist with prepping holiday meals (entrée and side dishes).

-Assist in ensuring kitchen volunteers are following training instructions.

-Comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards.

-Manage volunteers (kitchen preps. dishwashers and clean up crew) to ensure break down and clean up of the kitchen is complete according to sanitation standards.

-Maintain a positive and professional approach with co-volunteers.

Job Description Day 2:

- Serve as primary in command in the kitchen.
- Ensure the kitchen operates in a timely manner.

- Warm up all the food (entrée and side dishes).

-Train volunteers to assist in the kitchen and package food for distribution.

-Ensure all the food is properly packed and sealed to avoid and leakage during distribution.

-Comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards.

-Manage volunteers (kitchen preps. dishwashers and clean up crew) to ensure break down and clean up of the kitchen is complete according to sanitation standards.

-Maintain a positive and professional approach with co-volunteers.

Requirements:

-Proven cooking experience.

-Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedure.

-Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks.

-Familiar with industry's best practices.

-Strong desire to want to improve our community and the quality of life for the homeless children we serve.

-Must be at least 21 years old.

Dare2B will provide:

- All kitchen, cooking and health/sanitation equipment.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
♦ NO walk ins permitted. All volunteers must be registered in advance.

♦ NO children under 14 years of age.

♦ Wear black solid shirt (NO logos), blue jeans, comfortable shoes.
Please note venues tend to be cold. We recommend layers under your black shirt.

♦ All volunteers are required to retrieve, arrange and store all assigned equipment/s.

♦ Photo release forms will be provided upon arrival.
