ORGANIZATION: Our Task

  • 4 people are interested

Great news! OurTask is searching for an Economic Research Coordinator to become a part of The Global2100 Project (G2100). This position is demanding and committing, but rewarding for someone who is up for the challenge. The Global2100 Project is an established and completely volunteer driven project geared towards bringing the youth of today into the climate discussions of tomorrow. There are many moving parts to this project, and the G2100 Economics Team is looking for a motivated leader to join us in on our mission.

G2100 has access to many internationally recognized reports and related research materials, and we have already started gathering the pieces. The Economic Research Coordinator will be in charge of a team of up to ten researchers with a focus on highlighting and mapping the mechanisms through which global economic systems play a role in climate and intergenerational justice. This team will produce a comprehensive report that will be included in a larger portfolio of products developed by other G2100 teams.

Ideally, a coordinator will have a solid understanding of economic systems, structure, and their place in the fight for a sustainable future. (e.g. Neoclassical, Environmental, and Ecology Economic theory). A bachelor’s degree in economics is not required; however, a strong candidate will have at least two years of training in the field and a desire to strengthen their understanding of global economic systems. At least one publication will be produced from this team, with the potential for more. The G2100 Economics Research Coordinator will have the opportunity to become a part of the Core Team of the project, where additional tasks and roles are available.

Please submit a resume along with a carefully crafted, single-page letter sharing your desire to lead this team. We look forward to meeting you!

Mission Statement

Our Task’s Mission is to transform young adults into global thinkers and empower them to lead the next generation in building a sustainable future.

Description

We are an all-volunteer organization consisting of young adults, mentors and other global citizens who are concerned about the future of Earth.

Our Task envisions a shift in global civilization in which institutional and individual values are redirected from unsustainable growth and consumption toward a mutually enhancing relationship between humans and Earth. To achieve this vision, young people everywhere need to know the harm humanity is doing to Earth and where existing policies are taking us.

Our Task is working to give young adults a voice and create a healthy and sustainable future. If we can begin living "Plan B" lifestyles, and get others to as well, we can be a real force for change and can create the world we all dream of!

We work to recruit youth and mentors from all over the world to collaborate on global issues; educate ourselves and others on respected international studies; develop a realistic plan of action to bring ourselves, our children, and Earth safely through the 21st century; and engage our parents' and grandparents' generations in intergenerational dialogue on the changes needed, especially changes within the world's culture-shaping institutions.

Join us in building a mutually enhancing relationship between humans and Earth!
