Donations and Volunteers Needed to
Brighten Up the Holiday Season for a Senior!
Each year SOME depends on the generosity of folks like you to donate holiday baskets to low income seniors and families in the District.
WHAT GOES IN EACH BASKET:
1. 2 cans sweet potatoes
2. 2 cans of string beans (low sodium if possible)
3. 1 box of stuffing mix
4. 1 box of instant mashed potatoes
5. 2 cans of gravy
6. 1 can of cranberry sauce
7. 2 cans of fruit cocktail
8. 2 bottles of 100% juice (non-refrigerated)
9. 2 boxes of macaroni and cheese
10. A vessel to carry the food (this can be a new reusable shopping bag, a basket, or even a decorated cardboard box - whatever your imagination comes up with!)
Many of our seniors struggle to meet their nutritional and personal needs throughout the year. If, in addition to a basket, you would like to donate a gift card, SOME will use the gift cards to assist tour Seniors in meeting these needs.
SOME will provide meat for each basket.
Suggested optional items include: A signed greeting card, holiday table cloth, plates and cups, a bow
Gather your family, friends, and co-workers together to make up a Holiday Dinner Basket for a SOME Senior. It’s easy and you’ll get lots of joy knowing you’ve made the holiday brighter for a neighbor in need.
Bring the completed baskets to Kuehner House: 1667 Good Hope Road, SE Washington DC.

About SOME - So Others Might Eat
Location:

Mission Statement
SOME exists to help the poor and homeless of our nation's capital. We meet the immediate daily needs of the people we serve with food, clothing, and health care. We help break the cycle of homelessness by offering services, such as affordable housing, job training, addiction treatment, and counseling, to the poor, the elderly and individuals with mental illness.
Description
SOME has been serving the homeless and poor since 1970. Today, we are the only interfaith organization in the District that offers a comprehensive and holistic approach to caring for the homeless and extremely poor residents of our city. Though best known for serving more than 800 meals every day of the week, we provide programs that meet a full spectrum of needs that restore hope and dignity to the men, women, and children who come to our doors.
SOME's integrated service model allows poor and homeless individuals in our community to move forward on a path out of homelessness and poverty.
