Overview
The Little Tokyo Service Center (LTSC) is a fast-paced nonprofit organization that has been "helping people and building community" for 36 years and providing service to over 100,000 people each year. The resident services department at LTSC is looking to intake, train, and develop volunteers who will become part of its civic engagement program.
Objective
The term "civic engagement" means improving the civic life of our communities by developing the knowledge, skills, values and motivation to create change. Volunteers of our civic engagement program work on projects that encourage community members and residents to become civically engaged in their community and improve their quality of life. Program activities can include canvassing, phone banking, voter registrations, community outreach, and voter education workshops.
Responsibilities may include:
Leading or assisting with voter education workshops
Performing outreach via phone-banking, e-mail and canvassing
Organizing or assisting with civic engagement events
If bilingual, translating necessary documents or interpreting during workshops
Assisting with voter registration drives
While experience is a plus, our volunteer program welcomes volunteers of all different backgrounds, work/volunteer experiences, and ages. If you are interested in applying please fill out the interest form here ( https://goo.gl/forms/eLEOZRybqHWNMroe2 ), OR email the volunteer coordinator at mccruz@ltsc.org .
If you have any questions please feel free to contact the volunteer coordinator, Melissa C Cruz at (213) 473-1634, or by email (mccruz@ltsc.org).
