A-B Tech: Veterans' Cafe

COVID Note: We will be returning to in-person volunteering in August of 2021. Please see our website for COVID-19 Protocols at the following link

Volunteers are needed to support our College students that are Military Veterans.
The duties of this volunteer position sound simple but have a significant impact on the lives of these students.

Student military veterans benefit significantly from fellowship and networking with their peers. A-B Tech recognizes this need and has created the Vet's Cafe, a supportive environment where these students can relax, network, and connect with resources. In addition, it provides the opportunity to use a computer lab, participate in study groups, and network with other student Veterans.

Volunteers support the Cafe as hosts, ensuring the Cafe is welcoming and supportive. This includes setting out snacks and coffee, helping students with computers, and mentoring as appropriate. Volunteers also act as a conduit between students and the A-B Tech Veterans Advisor to ensure students get all the support they need to succeed.

Volunteer shifts are typically 3 hours once a week during business hours.

Student Veterans face numerous barriers to success; volunteers must have patience and understanding while volunteering at the Cafe. Military experience is preferred but not required. Volunteers need to be 21 years of age or older to volunteer at the Cafe.
