Hello Austin community members!
Our organization, Dance Another World is seeking both individuals who have experience with youth and who may also have a background in dance. We are a an English language immersion program taught through dance, serving non-native English speaking students from lower socioeconomic areas.The program is offered in communities all over Austin, providing a safe environment for students to learn English and build confidence through creative movement. Dance Another World is offered during after-school time in the Austin Independent School District, in the Del Valle Independent School District, serves SafePlace, Refugee Services of Texas, as well as provides classes at City of Austin Parks and Recreation sites. With the growing success of our program we would like to extend our welcome to more people to become a part of our organization. Currently we are seeking individuals that are interested in being substitutes for our program when one of our teachers is out. This is a paid opportunity! We do not always need substitutes but when we do it is imperative that we have qualified individuals that we can contact in the situation that we may need one. Mission Statement
Dance Another World, an English language immersion program taught through dance, serving non-native English speaking students from lower socioeconomic areas. In addition to dance and English, students learn to respect their bodies, minds and communities. Dancing exercises can stimulate visual thinking and perceptions while enhancing observation and self-expression. Students gain control of their bodies, their feelings and gain confident communication skills that can assist them in other aspects of their lives.
Description
Founded in 2014, Dance Another World is an English language immersion program taught through dance. Serving non-native English speaking students from lower-socioeconomic areas, students learn to communicate through creative movement.
Dance Another World works with organizations such as Afterschool Centers on Education (ACE) in the Austin Independent School District and with Cedars International Academy Charter School. In our AISD programs, we assist students with homework help and offer a healthy snack provided by our nutritional sponsors, Whole Foods Market. Our program touches communities in every part of Austin, helping to provide a safe environment for girls to learn English and build confidence.
