Come and be a part of a caring and compassionate team. Amedisys Hospice needs volunteers in your community. Hospice provides physical, emotional and spiritual support for terminally ill patients and their families. Volunteers are needed in the following areas:
Direct Care: Companionship; Playing cards/games; Support at time of death: Reading or writing letters with patient; Craft projects with patients/caregiver; Pet therapy; Caregiver Relief (so caregiver can get out of the home for 1 to 2 hours.) **Volunteers do not give meds, transport, or assist with personal care needs.**
Indirect Care: Light gardening; delivery of various things such as blankets, ice creams, treats, etc.; Attend of health fairs; Assisting at nursing facilities; helping in the office; providing crafts or treats from home to be delivered by others.
Bereavement: Assist with letters; Spiritual prayer calls; Attending funerals; Participate in memorial services; Companionship for bereaved.

Training is free and available at your convenience on an individual or group basis. TB screening required and can be provided by our nurses.
