Purple Tree Cafe is a small but growing nonprofit organization that employs people with disabilities and promotes the integration of people with disabilities into the broader community. Before the pandemic, we sold coffee and vegan teats at public markets and community events in the Davis area; now we wholesale to other businesses and offer a treat delivery service. We also sponsor inclusive online music events. to promote the other of our purposes. We have won grants and media attention. We hope to open a brick-and-mortar cafe in Davis some day but at present we are looking for more ways to re-invent ourselves to adapt to the new realities.

Purple Tree Cafe is seeking two new members for our board of directors. Join our team of community-building, energetic people who are passionate about creating employment and community participation for people with disabilities. Officers and board members have included a corporate accountant, an attorney for the state, a retired nurse, a retired university administrator, a disability rights attorney, a food shop owner,and a marketing executive. We honor and seek diversity in our membership.

Board members are elected for two-year terms and are expected to attend monthly board meetings (online for now). They should also be able to invest 10-12 hours per month of volunteer time in planning and support activities. Applicants should live in the Davis-Sacramento-Yolo County area.
We seek outside-the-box thinkers, with drive to find new approaches to everyday challenges, a willingness to tackle a variety of tasks in the 'new normal,' and a positive attitude. Experience in fundraising, marketing, or the food industry would be a plus.
