Are YOU our next Student of the Year?

The Students of the Year Campaign is a seven-week initiative in which nominated high school students participate in a fundraising competition to benefit the lifesaving mission of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

The top fundraising candidate (or team of students) at the end of the seven-week challenge earns the title "Student(s) of the Year" as well as a $1,000 scholarship to the college or university of his/her choice. Throughout the campaign, the students will be raising money in honor of a local patient hero who is currently battling a blood cancer.

Students of the Year candidates are high school students enrolled in Silicon Valley & Monterey Bay Area public or private schools who are interested in and enthusiastic about volunteerism, philanthropy, community outreach, and leadership. This campaign not only offers visibility in the community and local media but also demonstrates candidates’ excellence in leadership and community engagement for college applications and professional resumes.

Mission Statement

The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. We work tirelessly to find cures and ensure patients can access the lifesaving treatments they need. When someone experiences the fear and uncertainty of a blood cancer diagnosis, we provide hope, compassion, education and support. Our impact is felt beyond blood cancer. The breakthrough treatments we helped advance for blood cancers are now improving the lives of people affected by many types of cancer.

Description

Volunteers are our partners in the crusade to end cancer.

In 2018, LLS volunteers made a significant impact while selflessly dedicating their time and talent to achieve our mission. With countless ways to engage, from fundraising to providing patient support, our volunteers are changing the landscape of cancer.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Silicon Valley & Monterey Bay Area Chapter was founded in 1972 and serves Silicon Valley & Monterey Bay Area residents who have been touched by one of the blood cancers: leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
