We currently have a backlog of many thousands of photos and articles. Not all of them would be entered, but we certainly could be looking at a thousand or more photos and articles that could be posted in the GIS application. So, this person would probably have enough to work on steadily for possible a year or more.

General comfort with computers and data entry is needed. It isn’t very hard to do the data entry once they learn where the fields are in the software. Most of the data will be in the file name. But they will need to look at the photo and info in the file name to place a marker that indicates roughly where it was taken. The data in the file name will get them within a hundred feet or so but the more accurately they can place the pin marker the better it will be for the public. We can have them use Google Earth to help locate the precise pin location.

This is a position that needs to be done on site at Apple Valley City Hall, during the work day. Current days available for the work space are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We are looking for a volunteer who can work one shift a week during those days between the hours of 8am-4:30pm. Volunteer could pick a shift time during those hours.

Need to have above average computer skills, and be good at working with office machines.

Need to be available for a 3 -4 hour shift one to two days per week Monday - Friday until project is finished.
