The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
The City of Dixon is currently accepting volunteer applications. There are a variety of opportunities for citizens interested in volunteering their time; from office/clerical work to landscaping and maintenance; just to name a few. The following opportunities are immediately available:
1. The Parks Department has a need for volunteers to assist in parks and roadside landscaping areas to pick up trash, plant trees, clean off graffiti, empty trash cans, spread mulch, and other light landscaping and maintenance duties.
Generally, these volunteer opportunities require a 6-month time commitment, as program participants may require training. Most volunteer applicants must be at least 18 years of age (some posotions require a minimum age of 16), will be required to fill out the Volunteer Program Application, and submit to a Department of Justice background check prior to placement. We no longer accept court community service appoinment referrals.
