Technology Coordinators maintain laptops, printers, and routers in Citrus County, which are provided by the IRS, the AARP Foundation and local donations; loading the software; and providing support for electronically filing the returns.

Although there are aspects of the position that require some degree of communication or participation all year round, the highest concentration of time occurs from January through April. The Technology Coordinator is not required to become certified to prepare tax returns. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide adheres to current CDC social distancing and masking guidelines.

THE NATION'S LARGEST, FREE, VOLUNTEER RUN TAX COUNSELING AND PREPARATION PROGRAM. VOLUNTEERS ASSIST ANYONE, WITH A FOCUS ON TAXPAYERS WHO ARE OVER 50 AND HAVE LOW TO MODERATE INCOME.

A CHARITABLE, NON-PROFIT, INDIVIDUAL TAX PREPARATION PROGRAM ADMINISTERED BY THE AARP FOUNDATION IN COOPERATION WITH THE IRS.

DEPENDING ON LOCATION. SERVICE IS PROVIDED IN PERSON OR VIRTUALLY FROM FEB 1 THROUGH APRIL 17, 2023. FREE SERVICE INCLUDES ELECTRONIC FILING. VOLUNTEER POSITIONS INCLUDE LEADERSHIP, TECHNOLOGY, ADMINISTRATIVE, TAX COUNSELORS, AND NON-COUNSELORS.

IN 2022, WITH THE HELP OF 25,316 VOLUNTEERS, AARP FOUNDATION TAX-AIDE HAD A VERY SUCCESSFUL SEASON WITH 852,377 FEDERAL RETURNS FILED SECURING $1,075,441,589 IN REFUNDS FOR 1,251,641 PEOPLE.

  • The time required depends on specific responsibilities. Position is often busiest during October and November, and during the tax season Feb 1 - April 15, when 1-2 hours per day is typically needed to respond to email and resolve problems on site.
  • Need personal vehicle to travel between sites. Must have access to email and the internet. Mileage reimbursement provided by the AARP Foundation, plus miscellaneous supplies. A 2-day training course is held in Oct with addt'l OJT as necessary.
