RAMS CalWORKs Counseling and Prevocational Services is looking for volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of families and children. You will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with a committed team of psychotherapists, social workers, and peer counselors who share the cause of helping individuals and families improve their mental and physical well-being and achieve economic independence.

We welcome volunteers from all walks of life. Active retirees are especially encouraged to apply.

Job Description
Role and Responsibilities:
● Provide childwatch for clients who have young children from the age 3 to 13
● Prepare, organize, and tidy up play area
● Assist staff with various office tasks, including:
Copying and preparing intake packets, filing, answering phone calls, and greeting visitors/clients
● Collaborate with staff to plan events, workshops, and other outreach and educational activities in the office or out in the community
● Attend agency training/events, if recommended

Qualifications:
● Ability to demonstrate professionalism in an office setting
● Reliable and can work independently
● Experience with childcare a plus
● Basic computer skills (eg. Microsoft Office Suite)
● Bilingual in Spanish/Chinese/Russian/Arabic/Mongolian/any other language a big plus, but not required
● Able to commit to at least 2 shifts per week (9am to 1pm or 1 to 5pm) for 6 months
● Must be able to submit TB Clearance and Live/Scan fingerprinting clearances, as per local & State law requirements, upon acceptance into volunteer placement

Education Requirements:
You must be at least 18 year-old, high school senior, or have earned a GED or high school diploma.

RAMS, Inc. (Richmond Area Multi-Services) is a private, non-profit mental health agency that is committed to advocating for and providing community based, culturally-competent, and consumer-guided comprehensive services, with an emphasis on serving Asian & Pacific Islander Americans. Founded in San Francisco's Richmond District in 1974, our agency offers comprehensive services that aim to meet the behavioral health, social, vocational, and educational needs of the diverse community of the San Francisco Area with special focus on the Asian & Pacific Islander American and Russian-speaking populations. Each year, RAMS serves about 19,000 adults, children, and families and provides services in over 30 languages and dialects, including Asian languages - Cambodian, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin, Toishanese, Taiwanese), Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Punjabi, Tagalog, Thai, and Vietnamese - and Russian.

RAMS fosters leadership and actively participates in efforts towards raising awareness and reducing the stigma of mental health. Such activities include: sponsor & participate in health & neighborhood fairs, advocate to impact public policy, facilitate workshops for the community and other healthcare professionals, establish & actively participate in collaborations & coalitions, and participate in media and public campaigns.

RAMS is recognized by the local and national social service community as having expertise in providing culturally competent mental health services to the underserved, with a unique expertise in working with the Asian & Pacific Islander and Russian-speaking populations. The agency has received numerous awards for delivery of culturally competent services, clinical training, employment of people with disability, and community leadership.

RAMS believes in serving clients in their primary or preferred language(s) of treatment, supporting consumer choice & empowerment, and advocating for the accessibility to services.

RAMS offers over 30 clinical programs at varying levels of care in over 85 sites citywide, to meet the diverse needs of the community. Services include:
