The Treasurer supports the organization's mission to save animals; manages and reports all financial aspects of HSLC; ensures compliance with applicable regulations; proposes policies and practices; serves as a voting member of the Board of Directors; fulfills any other requirements of a Director and Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Treasurer manages General Ledger and records entries using accrual method of accounting
- Processes weekly A/P
- Develops amd maintains annual budget with regular Board reporting
- Administers investment policy
- Completes monthly bank reconciliations
- Generates and distributes Blance sheet and P&L to Board
- Files annual Federal 990 and Va form 102
- Administers insurance policies
Board Responsibilities:
- Uphold the mission of HSLC and help oversee its programs
- Ensure Animal Care best practices
- Participate in Board meetings as a voting member
Requirements:
- Knowledge of GAAP accounting
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks, MS office and Google Drive

We are a foster-based, all-volunteer organization that saves and improves the lives of vulnerable animals by providing care and placing adoptable animals into loving forever homes.
Description
HSLC has been helping animals since our founding in 1966. HSLC has no paid staff nor a physical facility or shelter; all of our animals are in foster homes, display cages at local pet stores, or in temporary boarding until they are adopted into their furever homes.
Thanks to our volunteers and community support, HSLC helped thousands of animals in 2023:
- Nearly 200 cats and dogs fostered
- Over 200 community cats supported
- Nearly 6,000 animals fed via the Loudoun Pet Pantry
