The Alzheimer's Alliance of Smith County is a local and independent nonprofit organization committed to walking alongside all those affected by Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. Our programs include brain health advocacy, personal consultations and case management, caregiver support and resources, and professional and community education for a healthy East Texas.

Project Lifesaver is a vital program for our clients with dementia, who are at an increased risk for wandering and becoming lost. When seniors are enrolled in Project Lifesaver, they are fitted with a location bracelet; if they wander and are reported missing, the transmitter is tracked by law enforcement and increases the chances they will be found to within 30 minutes. Volunteers are always needed help to check equipment, change transmitter batteries monthly, prepare for trainings, follow up with clients, and ensure records are up-to-date.
