Each year the Older Persons' Commission (OPC) partners with community members to provide Holiday basket to low-income, homebound seniors. We are in need of volunteers to sign-up to donate a basket and/or deliver baskets to a senior. Gift baskets/boxes need to be delivered to the OPC by noon on Friday, December 9th.
Most items for the gift baskets can be purchased at dollar stores, here is a listing of what we are asking for:
- 1 can each of: vegetables, fruit, cranberries
- 1 box each of: stuffing, mashed potatoes
- holiday dessert (cookies)
- tea bags
- breakfast bars
- 4lb turkey/ham or $10 grocery gift card
- laundry basket or large decorated box (to hold items)
- paper towels
- toilet paper
- kleenex
- liquid dish soap
- hand soap
- toothpaste/toothbrush
- shampoo/conditioner
- hand sanitizer
- unisex gift wrapped item such as: puzzles, candy, holiday napkins, stamps and stationary, oven mitts
Basket delivery will take place on Saturday, December 10th. Volunteers will meet at the OPC at 10:00am, to receive the delivery address. Seniors homes are located in Rochester, Rochester Hills, or Oakland Township.
