VOLUNTEER POSITION
Since 1978, Affordable Living for the Aging (ALA) has enriched the Los Angeles community by providing seniors with affordable housing, services, and linkages to supportive services. ALA helps seniors through its signature Home Share Program.
The Home Share Program matches those who have available bedrooms in their homes (Housing Providers) with compatible housemates (Housing Seekers). Each home share match addresses the housing and support needs of two individuals, while utilizing existing housing stock.
ALA is looking for individuals to assist with outreach activities to promote the Home Share Program in LA County Supervisory District 2. The ideal candidate has a strong desire to develop his/her skill set while working for a mission-driven organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend a home share training session
- Accompany the Program Manager to community events to promote the program
- Attend community events alone, or with the assistance of other volunteers, on behalf of ALA
- Hand out flyers
- Educate community members on the Home Share Program
- Collect contact information of potential program participants

Affordable Living for the Aging (ALA) has provided low-income seniors with affordable housing since 1982 and roommate matching services since 1979. ALA's mission is to advance the well-being of seniors through dignified housing programs. ALA-operated programs have had a profound and measureable impact on allowing seniors who embrace group living to remain independent longer.
Description
Through existing programs, ALA manages six properties and offers housing search assistance and home sharing to seniors in the community.
ALA's cooperative communities offer seniors a private bedroom and bathroom. Residents share communal areas such as the kitchen and living area.
ALA's affordable housing is for independently living seniors.
