About QARI

Quincy Asian Resources, Inc. (QARI) is a multi-service agency that provides Information & Referral in South Shore area. QARI provides Adult English education classes, Information and Referral services, youth and family programs. QARI’s mission is to foster and improve the social, cultural, economic and civic lives of Asian Americans and their families to benefit Quincy and its neighboring communities. Through collaborations and partnerships, we provide culturally competent services including adult education programs, youth development, and cultural events as well as information and referrals to public and other community organizations.

Summary

The community service assistant serves at QARI’s community service desk, a first stop for many new immigrants to the area. The community service assistant provides multilingual support to immigrants (many elderly), helping them to access many essential services such as affordable housing, food stamps, and healthcare.

General Responsibilities

• Community interpretation/translation (at QARI offices, and occasionally offsite)

• Translate documents for clients

• Assist and advise clients in completing applications

• Ensure accuracy of information

• Program Registration

• Inform, screen, and register people for QARI programs such as ESOL, Chinese Painting, and other QARI workshops

• Remain aware of QARI’s network of service partners, assess clients’ needs, and referring clients to the appropriate service provider as needed

• Maintain clean, professional office environment

Qualifications

• Bilingual fluent in English and one of the following: Cantonese, Mandarin or Vietnamese (other languages are also welcome, but may be less applicable)

• Friendly, professional demeanor, attention to detail, and ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent computer skills & telephone skills
