One out of six adults in New Jersey can't read to his or her child, understand food or prescription labels, or write a note to a teacher or friend! Be the reason they can! Become a Literacy Volunteer by attending our 15 hour training. Literacy Volunteers offers small group English basic skills and English as a Second language tutoring to adults at no cost.
LVACA tutors provide reading, writing, comprehension conversational English, job-preparedness, health and financial literacy, citizenship-preparedness, and survival skills instruction. Tutors serve as mentors and role models for adult students as they work toward achieving their educational goals. Tutoring is offered at the times and locations that are convenient for both the tutor and the student throughout Atlantic and Cape May Counties.
Your commitment to tutor two or more hours per week will "Change lives beyond words".
