We have many volunteer opportunities here at the Tumwater Boys & Girls Club! Our programs run between 3-5:30pm daily with a break between 4-4:30pm for snack and assembly. I have compiled a list of our current programs, although we welcome volunteers who want to implement their own programs in addition to what we already provide. Here are all of our current programs: -Smart Girls: Smart Girls currently runs between 3-4pm on Mondays for our teenagers, and 4:30-5:30pm for 8-10 year olds. Smart Girls is a safe place for girls to discuss topics including puberty, self esteem, and healthy habits. In this specific program, we would welcome volunteers who want to volunteer as guest speakers, leading discussions and activities pertaining to relevant topics to the girls in this group. -Games Room Tournaments: Every Wednesday from 4:30-5:30 we host a different tournament in the Games Room for kids K-6th grade. Tournaments range from air hockey, to Connect Four, to pool. We welcome any volunteer who wants to help out with these tournaments. -Record Breakers: Every Thursday between 4:30-5:30 we host record breakers in the Games Room for competitions such as who can build the highest Jenga tower, who can score the most Foosball goals, etc. We welcome any volunteer who wants to help out with this program or host their own record breaker event. -Cooking Club: Our cooking club meets on Tuesday's from 4:30-5:30 for K-6th graders, and from 3-4:00 on Friday's for the teenagers. This club combines both healthy habits lessons regarding nutrition, and also cooks healthy food choices every other week. We would welcome any volunteers who want to help with the program, or any volunteers who want to lead their own cooking or nutrition lesson. (We would provide all the ingredients needed.) -Torch Club: Torch Club meets each Wednesday between 4:30-5:30 for 4th-6th graders. It is our leadership club for this age group and focuses on leadership skills, community service outreach, club service projects, educational field trips, and social event organization. We could use volunteers who want to speak on relevant topics, or lead a short class on various leadership skills. -Keystone Club: Keystone club meets each Thursday between 3-4 for the teenagers. Similar to Torch Club, it is a leadership club that focuses on leadership skills, community service outreach, club service projects, educational field trips, and social event organization. We could use volunteers who want to speak on relevant topics, or lead a short class on various leadership skills. -Art Club: Our art club meets every Tuesday from 4:30-5:30 for K-6th graders. This club focuses on fine arts, and we do different projects each week. We would welcome volunteers who want to either help out with the club or lead their own project or class. -G3 Get Good Grades: Our G3 tutoring program is one of our most intensive programs at the Boys & Girls Club. G3 is a grant-provided program that stands for "Get Good Grades." It is available to any student at the club who is receiving low academic scores in at least one subject area. The G3 program runs Monday-Thursday from 3-4 and from 4:30-5:30. The G3 program's goal is to provide one-on-one or small group tutoring to students in need. Our G3 program has its own coordinator, Darian, who I would refer you to if you are interested in tutoring. In addition to all of these programs, we would love to work with volunteers to implement new programs, or help out with our 5 areas any time between 3-5:30 including the games room, gym, computer lab, art & activities room, and education room. The volunteer process will include an application and background check, a short interview here at the club, and establishing a schedule to get started!

To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

Description

In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them.

Boys & Girls Clubs offer that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.
