Give Enrichment Opportunities for Youth with a Parent In Prison: Tuesday Volunteer
ORGANIZATION: New Hope
Please visit the new page to apply.
Did you know that one study found a child with a parent in prison is 5 times more likely than their peers to be incarcerated themselves later on in life? Did you know Oklahoma incarcerates women at a higher rate than anywhere else in the world? New Hope Oklahoma works with youth 5-18 who have/have had an incarcerated parent, with the mission to end generational incarceration.
Among other services, we provide community groups that serve as both a support group and a learning opportunity. Tuesday evenings focus on enrichment activities, such as yoga, cullinary arts, pottery, golf, and glass-blowing.
Because transportation is often a barrier to services for many in our community, we provide transportation to children in our program. Help us be able to serve more children by riding along on our transportation routes and acting as a supervising adult to ensure children are safe. This is a weekly commitment. No driving necessary.

Description
At New Hope, lives are renewed everyday. When a child's parent goes to prison, life as they know it ends. Through our life affirming programs, children are lifted from isolation and fear, into possibility and hope. This is achieved by a circle of adults who care, a safe place with others who understand, a chance to imagine a life of possibilities and new futures born though hope, everyday.
