Radio and Communications APL

Position overview and impact: The Austin Public Library is seeking a talented Media and Communications Volunteer to forward our mission and gain tangible skills

  • Production Assistant duties for weekly radio program
  • Audio/video pre-production, production and post-production
  • Social Media
  • Press releases
  • Copywriting
  • Newsletters

Minimal Qualifications: Must be comfortable and competent using cameras, microphones and computers. Experience in audio/video production and Adobe Creative Cloud (primarily Premier and Audition). Volunteers should be social media fluent and able to learn new applications and online tools easily. Volunteers must pass a criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Drupal or other web publishing system is a plus. Volunteers should also possess strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently, problem solve in high-pressure situations and be able to transport gear to Library locations around the city (up to 50 lbs). Your base location will be the Central Library downtown. Parking is not provided. Schedules are flexible (primarily Monday-Friday 10 AM-3 PM, but occasional weekends might be required). We ask for a minimum 8 hours per week (10-15 hours preferred).


Time Commitment: 8 hours per week

Length Commitment: 6 months
