If you are age 55 and older and want to help older adults remain living independently and give them opportunities to socialize; then this opportunity is for you. Some older adults need help getting to the grocery store and doctor appointments to remain living independently. If you can drive, you can take them. You can provide a higher quality of life to older adults just by socializing with them. Description

Help adults in need of extra assistance

Through the Senior Companion Program, people age 55 and older provide assistance and friendship to frail older adults and their caregivers, adults with disabilities, and those with terminal illnesses. Senior Companions usually serve four to six clients on a weekly basis, serving 20 hours a week. If you are interested in being a Senior Companion, you must meet income eligibility requirements, and for your time you will receive a modest, tax-free stipend to offset the cost of volunteering. Other benefits include reimbursement for transportation and accident and liability insurance while on duty. Pre-Service and monthly training sessions provided.
