We hope you apply!

Mary House is a community based organization that provides transitional housing services, shelter and support programs to homeless and struggling families. The philosophy at Mary House has always been to help others as we ourselves would want to be helped, while providing a safe haven that allows families to reclaim their dignity.

The Mary House After-School Program provides tutoring to immigrant and refugee children Monday through Thursday afternoons. The program has children from pre-K through 5th grade, and emphasizes both academics and a safe space for children to learn and grow. Volunteers help kids with homework and reading, during playtime, games, snack, etc. Knowledge of languages other than English is not required. The after-school program is located across from the Brookland/Catholic University Metro Station.

Volunteers must be able to commit at least one day a week (Monday through Thursday) for 3 months.

If interested, please email Emily Cerna, After-School Program Coordinator, at maryhousevolunteers@gmail.com
