This event is FREE, and priority is given to Title One schools located on the Charleston Peninsula. For elementary students, the day will begin with a special concert by the Charleston Jazz Orchestra led by Music Director, Charlton Singleton, followed by a visit to the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry for the grand opening of Swing!, an interactive exhibit using music, movement, manipulatives and mentoring experiences to introduce children to the rhythms, history and cultural influences of jazz through guided play and materials exploration. Plus, Charleston’s musical Mayor John Tecklenburg will chat with the kids about the joy of music. The Elementary School Program runs from 9:00am - 12:00pm. We need volunteers to help guide classes through the rotation (Charleston Music Hall, Children's Museum of the Lowcountry, Musical Petting Zoo & Lunch), help monitor for safety at all locations & help to keep Museum space tidy. Come join us for a PLAYful Day of Jazz!!! If you are intersted in volunteering at this awesome event, please email Kendra at kendra@explorecml.org
