Do you enjoy engaging and connecting people? Are you interested in expanding hands-on science education? We're looking a someone to join our volunteer-run organization as Community Outreach Coordinator.
This position will help SoundBio reach out to community centers, primary and secondary schools, clubs, and other organizations that might be interested in hosting or attending our hands-on science workshops developed and run by our volunteer educators and scientists. The ideal candidate should be outgoing, have great communication skills and will need to work closely with our administrative team.
Responsibilities:
Reach out to community schools and organizations
Grow, develop and steward relationships with partnering organizations
Attend planning meetings in person
Use and help develop marketing materials for workshops and events
Communicate through our task managing system (Trello & Slack)
Coordinate with teachers and organizers for tailoring content to match needs
Qualifications:
Must be available to attend planning meetings once a week
Comfortable reaching out to create new partnerships
Friendly and outgoing
Great communications skills
Passionate about science education and outreach in Seattle
Lives in the Seattle Area

Description
SoundBio is a small DIY biology focused, volunteer run organization in Seattle. We provide workshops and resources to help spread the DIY biology movement and inspire scientific curiousity. SoundBio sits on three mission-critical legs: building community within DIY biology, enhancing and promoting public science, and facilitating public access to biotechnology equipment and space.
Each person and their ideas at SoundBio is treated with respect to foster inclusiveness and enthusiasm for science.
