Overall description of position:

Responsible for the identification, recruitment, and interviewing of all non-executive volunteers. Assists the VP of Volunteer Retention in the development and implementation of volunteer training and on-boarding.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Works with the VP of Volunteer Retention, VP of Academics, and VP of Mentors to assess and understand organizational volunteer needs

  • Maintains a support team of individuals with specific skill sets to assist in the all efforts concerning Volunteer Recruitment

  • Maintains relationships with other young professional (YP) organizations to promote a diverse volunteer pool

  • Works with Minds Matter National and Executive Vice President (Risk Management) to execute background check policy

  • Works with VP of Volunteer Retention, VP of Academics, and VP of Mentors to create and maintain volunteer handbook

  • Works with VP of Volunteer Retention and VP of Mentors to facilitate mentor/ mentee pairing

  • Works with VP of Events, VP of Communications and YP organizations to plan and execute regular volunteer recruitment events

  • Assists in the maintenance of database of past and present volunteers to include key demographic information

  • Develops and tracks annual Volunteer Recruitment budget and provides VP of Finance a quarterly update

Description

Minds Matter brings bright and motivated high school students together with dedicated mentors to help them achieve academic excellence, expand educational horizons and ultimately gain acceptance to college. This is accomplished in a 3-year program that includes 32 Saturday sessions (half academic and half mentoring) per year and 2 Summer program.

There are three program components that differentiate Minds Matter from other organizations: academic instruction, individualized mentoring support, and summer enrichment programs.
