We need someone to translate welcome announcements, agenda and activity instructions, and other general information at our first Family Engagement Event of the Year!
Our goal is to make our students' families feel like partners in their child's education, and it really makes a HUGE difference when we are able to communicate with Spanish-speaking parents/guardians. We see much higher attendance, and Spanish-speaking families feel much more comfortable and included than they would at Engish-only events.
The evening will be filled with fun crafts activities, family reading time, a light dinner, and lots of free book and resource give-aways!
Volunteers are welcome to participate in any/all of the activities!

Description
Because 3rd grade reading ability is such a strong predictor of high school graduation rates, Super Stars Literacy partners with schools in low-income communities to provide at-risk K-2nd grade students with comprehensive literacy intervention programming, helping them build the literacy and social skills that are the foundation for future learning. The SSL program consists of 1) daily after-school literacy and social-emotional skill developmet, 2) in-school reading support coordinated with the students' school-day teachers, and 3) family engagement activities designed to help parents support their child's reading development and connect families to the school.
