Kidspace Children's Museum is southern California's premier children's museum specializing in interactive learning opportunities for youth. The mission of Kidspace Children's Museum is to nurture the potential of all children through kid-driven experiences, inspiring them to become joyful, active learners.

We looking for a regular, ongoing volunteer to assist with our information desk on Saturdays, as our Guest Services Volunteer. (We need assistance on Sundays too, however Saturday is the priority.)

Our information desk is located within the museum offices area. The Saturday Guest Services Volunteer is responsible for staffing the reception/information desk and greeting any guests who enter the office with questions or first aid needs, and answering phones. Typical guest questions in person and by phone include questions about where to find the bathroom, what's happening in the museum that day, information about upcoming events, Early Learner classes, birthday parties, and other programs the museum offers, and lost & found inquiries. First aid needs usually consist of giving out band aids and ice packs.

In order to qualify for this position, volunteers must have a high level of maturity and decorum, be very responsible, and have good customer service skills. Must be comfortable working with the public, and have a warm, friendly demeanor. Must also be able to commit at least through December, with the opportunity to remain on board after December if desired.

This is a good opportunity for someone hoping to gain basic experience in the museum field, to have some demonstrated leadership or work experience on their resume, or someone who has free time on the weekends and is interested in spending time in and giving back to the community.

The Guest Services Volunteer will have museum membership privileges during their time in their role, which includes a 10% discount on museum classes and programs, as well as free museum admission for up to 4 guest.
