In a hospital setting, minutes can feel like hours. At Northside Hospital, our Family Waiting Room volunteers play a pivotal role keeping our clinical and medical staffs connected to family members and visitors by proactively engaging them to maintain open lines of communication. Volunteers escort them to their loved one in the Post-Recovery Room, Neuro ICU, or Cardiovascular ICU, provide directions and information, make and answer telephone calls, and log visitor entries. Some occasional tidying of the waiting room and replenishing supplies is also requested. Knowledge of medical terms helpful or we will teach! Opportunities are available on Monday 8am to noon and Friday from noon to 4pm.

Serving the community since 1976, Northside Hospital is a 288-bed facility, offering a full range of services, including but not limited to:
- Interventional stroke and neurologic care
- Full-service orthopedic and spine treatment
- A 24-hour emergency room
- Preventative and corrective cardiac care

As the first Comprehensive Stroke Center in St. Petersburg, our technologically advanced facility allows our superior physicians and nursing staff to care for our growing community. With campus-based specialized units, such as the Tampa Bay Heart Institute, and the Neuroscience Institute for Interventional Neuroradiology and neurologic care, Northside Hospital continues to enhance and expand its services to better serve the St. Petersburg community.
