Junior Achievement Financial Literacy Center

Located in the 'New Town' area of Jacksonville, the JA Financial Literacy Center is the first of its type in the country.

Thanks to a grant from Bank of America, Junior Achievement transformed New Town's Mitchell Community Center into a hands-on learning experience for third graders in Duval County.

The JA Financial Literacy center offers a life-size "JA Our City" program along with the "Economics of Healthy Eating" sponsored by The Jim Moran Foundation.

Volunteer at the JA Financial Literacy Center!

Volunteer to teach a third grade class visiting the JA Financial Literacy Center. You'll teach "JA Our City" during one half of the day and the "Economics of Healthy Eating" in the other half.

JA Our City teaches students about city planning, skills people need to work in specific careers and how business contributes to the life of the city.

The Economics of Healthy Eating combines economics and budgeting with dietary education.

No teaching experience required! Just a desire to help Junior Achievement prepare the next generation for success.

Our staff will train you and give you all materials you'll need to have a great day!

Opportunities available from now until May 2017.

As a volunteer you will be at the Mitchell Community Center from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM on the day you choose. View all available time slots and sign up here: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d49acae2fa4f49-jaourcity

Mission Statement

Junior Achievement inspires and prepares young people to succeed in a global economy.

Description

Junior Achievement is the world's largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs.

Our volunteer-delivered, kindergarten-12 th grade programs foster work-readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills, and use experiential learning to inspire students to dream big and reach their potential.

JA's unique approach allows volunteers from the community to deliver our curriculum while sharing their experiences with students.

Through an innovative partnership between the business community, educators and volunteers, Junior Achievement helps young people connect with relevant learning and the importance of staying in school. JA students develop the skills they need to experience the realities and opportunities of work and entrepreneurship in the 21 st-century global marketplace.

Junior Achievement of North Florida is one of 115 JA Areas in the United States. JA of North Florida has been in operation since 1963 and serves youth in Duval, St. Johns, Clay and surrounding counties.
