Casino Night 2016

We’re looking for volunteers to help out during an evening full of luck, chance, and fun!

On Saturday, November 5, 2016, LearningSpring School will be hosting its annual Casino Night Fundraiser. Volunteers are needed for three hour shifts (5 pm - 8 pm or 8 pm - 11 pm).

The Casino Night Fundraiser will be attended by over 130 parents, friends and sponsors, from all five boroughs of NYC. Guests will have the opportunity to play blackjack, roulette, craps, and Texas Hold 'em poker. There will also be refreshments and a silent auction.

Tasks include:
- Room set up
- Server/runner
- Clean up
- And more!

All event proceeds go directly to LearningSpring, benefiting the students’ academic and social skills programs and activities. In past years, this annual event has raised over $50,000.

LearningSpring School (LSS) is a kindergarten through eighth grade school dedicated to educating students on the autism spectrum. It is unique amongst others schools in that it is committed to advance the social, developmental and academic growth of its students.

NOTE: Volunteers MUST be 21+

The LearningSpring School for children on the autism spectrum in grades K-8 is committed to advance the social, developmental and academic growth of its students through pioneering educational and therapeutic strategies in order to prepare each child to participate in the wider community.

Description

The LearningSpring Curriculum is multi-disciplinary, rich in content, and is constantly changing in order to be responsive to the student’s needs. It is structured to minimize distraction and to help increase the student’s flexibility. The uniqueness of the curriculum is that it is not based on one methodology, but draws on a variety of techniques and resources. It is comprised of the following:

  • An academic curriculum that adheres to the New York State Education Department Learning Standards.
  • Social-Cognitive-Behavioral Curriculum that is taught and practiced throughout the entire school day.
  • Speech/Language Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physical Education
  • Computer/Keyboarding
  • Enrichment Classes in Drama, Music, Art, and Yoga
  • Weekly read-a-louds in Library with opportunities to withdraw books
