Ward's Corner 10K

We are looking for 200 total volunteers to assist us with all aspects of our inaugural 10K run and walk fundraiser scheduled for Saturday, December 3, 2016.

Due to Hurricane Matthew, the Inaugural Ward's Corner 10K has been rescheduled from October 8 to December 3, 2016. Please consider volunteering for a great cause!

Volunteers are needed to check in race participants & corporate partners. Volunteers are needed to guide runners and traffic throughout the course, hand out water along the course, event set-up, and break-down, logistics, parking, awards, etc.

This race will benefit Virginia Supportive Housing of Hampton Roads. The mission of Virginia Supportive Housing is to end homelessness by providing permanent housing and supportive services to homeless and low-income adults. Founded in 1988, VSH was the first non-profit organization in Virginia to develop and provide permanent supportive housing for homeless single adults. Since then, VSH continues its tradition of Making Homelessness History.

The mission of Virginia Supportive housing is to end homelessness by providing permanent housing and supportive services to those most in need - unsheltered individuals with high rates of chronic homelessness, disabilities, and chronic health conditions.

Description

Virginia Supportive Housing, (VSH) is Virginia’s first and largest provider of permanent supportive housing for homeless single adults. Since 1992, VSH has developed 543 units of permanent supportive housing in 16 communities throughout Richmond, Hampton Roads and Charlottesville. In addition, we provide mobile supportive services to 275 individuals in apartments managed by other landlords in Richmond and Hampton Roads.The supportive housing VSH provides is extremely successful; more than 95% of VSH residents do not return to homelessness.
