Mission Statement

Transition House works to prevent and end domestic violence in our community through education, outreach and intervention. We reject the notion that domestic violence is inevitable. Instead, we strive to provide violence prevention education to children and adults, to educate the community about the realities of domestic and dating violence, and to offer viable and effective intervention strategies.

Description

Transition House is an innovative community-based nonprofit organization founded in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1975. Transition House provides a comprehensive range of housing options and community support for individuals and families surviving domestic and intimate partner violence. We facilitate an empowering environment where people can rebuild their lives and pave a path to long term safety and stability. We join with survivors to raise awareness about the widespread impact of domestic violence and advocate for systemic change. We educate youth to break the cycle of violence in the next generation. We build deep partnerships to create and sustain a safer, healthier community.
